But the game was suspended following a COVID breakout among Valencia players and so was Calathes's comeback to action.
As it appears, his first game after the injury (a proximal fracture of the left fibula) he suffered playing against CSKA Moscow, will be the EuroLeague Round 22 game against UNICS in Kazan next Thursday (January 20).
The 32-year-old has been practicing at the same pace as his teammates over the last week. Barca head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius commented in the preview: "I think he will get minutes and we will see how it goes".
Calathes, 32, leads all EuroLeague assist-makers this season with 5.7 per game, standing 25 assists away from becoming the EuroLeague's all-time leader in that category. He also records 5.2 rebounds and 13.1 PIR.
On the other hand, Pierre Oriola and Alex Abrines remain sidelined.
