A crazy schedule for Barcelona: a game every 2.7 days up until May / News - Basketnews.com

Credit BasketNews/D.Repečka The European basketball schedule became a nightmare for coaches, who complained about the difficulties of practicing. Preseasons are already short, and when the season begins, there is not too much time to bind three or four days without games. This year, due to the current situation with the unfortunate coronavirus outbreaks in all the countries, the schedule is even crazier. On Thursday in Kazan, FC Barcelona will play their fourth game in 2022, which will be their first away game. It will mark the beginning of their crazy schedule. The Spanish powerhouse will play at least 35 games until next May 16th. This number could increase up to 42 if Barcelona reached the Spanish Cup final and played five games in the Euroleague Playoffs. What does this mean? Barcelona could play a total of 42 games in 116 days, or one game every 2,7 days on average. Barca would have only two weeks with less than three games: the one after the Spanish Cup (21 to February 27th) and the first week of May (2 to 8). Currently, Barcelona have a total of 5 postponed games. Four in the ACB League, against Morabanc Andorra, Joventut de Badalona, Real Madrid, and Valencia Basket, and one in the EuroLeague versus CSKA Moscow. Sarunas Jasikevicius will have to manage a tremendously complex puzzle. Not just in terms of players' health, but also to keep the winning streak in both competitions. He will need patience and may use an app like Trello. "Probably I will have to choose which games I want to win and in which one may I give some players a rest. That's our reality," confessed Ettore Messina last week after the game against Barcelona at Palau. Coaches are in trouble this year. They are on a mission to keep competing, winning, and taking care of their players' health. Thank you for reading us! Help us even more.
