It was a tense and defensive battle in the fourth. Both teams had scored only four points each with more than six minutes expired in the quarter, as Dwayne Bacon scored five straight to give Monaco a four-point advantage (66-60).
Guerschon Yabusele answered with a big 3-pointer to cut Real's deficit to three with 91 seconds remaining (63-66). Mike James couldn't convert on the other end, but Rudy Fernandez could, tying the game at 66 with a 3-pointer and sending it into overtime.
Yabusele and Will Thomas traded buckets in OT, but Alpha Diallo jammed the ball to give Monaco the lead (71-70). Pablo Laso was awarded a technical foul, James hit a layup in transition, Diallo added another bucket, and Monaco had a two-possession lead with just over a minute remaining (75-70).
Vincent Poirier responded with an and-one, Walter Tavares scored after grabbing the offensive rebound, and the game was tied at 75 with 15 seconds to go. James had a chance to win it for Monaco but his 3-pointer was blocked by Tavares and the game went into double overtime.
Gabriel Deck scored four quick points, Jeffrey Taylor added a 3-pointer, and Real were up by five (85-80). Deck sealed the victory for Real, converting an and-one, as Real won their seventh straight.
"I think we had control of the game in a lot of situations but we had too many turnovers and they were getting advantages from our mistakes, but we kept on fighting," coach Pablo Laso said. "We were down at the end of regulation but were able to tie it. The first overtime we played hard, and I thought the second overtime we played good."
