After his two prolific stints in China, Jimmer Fredette is returning to the Shanghai Sharks for the conclusion of the Chinese Basketball Association season and playoffs.Fredette will find two other Americans in the team, Jamaal Franklin and Noah Vonleh, as the CBA has removed the cap on foreign players per roster, but only one can be on the court at a time.

After several stints in the NBA with the Kings, Bulls, Pelicans, Knicks and Suns, Fredette moved to China in 2016 and stayed through 2019. He made his first comeback in 2020, playing for the same team - the Shanghai Sharks.
The former BYU standout inked a two-year contract with Panathinaikos in the summer of 2019, but didn't return for the 2020-21 season. After the COVID-19 crisis, his contract became too hefty for the Greek club.
His first European campaign, cut short by the coronavirus pandemic, saw him average 12.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per EuroLeague contest. Fredette shot 41.7% from long range. He also put up 13.7 points per game in Greece’s Basket League.Fredette, who also carries the nickname "the lonely master", was named the 2017 CBA International MVP -and signed a two-year deal with the NBA’s Phoenix Suns in March 2019. After playing in six games for the Suns, though, Phoenix chose not to pick up the second-year option on his contract.
