In the battle between two Turkish giants, Anadolu Efes Istanbul (14-4) welcomed the visitors Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul (15-4) at Sinan Erdem Dome.

The hosts eased past Fenerbahce 91-71 (20-24, 27-17, 19-22, 25-8) and arose to second place at the Turkish Basketball League table.

Pierria Henry scored 15 points in the first quarter to give Fenerbahce a 4-point lead (24-20) after 10 minutes of the game.

However, Anadolu Efes opened the second period with a 12-2 push to retake the game control (32-26). Bugrahan Tuncer, Erten Gazi, and Vasilije Micic hit four treys in a row. Efes maintained the same lead until the first half end (47-41).

Even though the hosts created a double-digit lead in the mid-third quarter (62-50), Fenerbahce managed to recover thanks to Marko Guduric and Pierria Henry. The latter drained a last-second three off the backboard and Fener were only down by 3 points (63-66) before the decisive quarter.

Melih Mahmutoglu tied the game at 66, though, Fener's luck was temporary. Anadolu Efes went on a massive 14-0 run to break the game to their side (80-66). They arranged another spurt (8-0) and sealed the deal with 3 minutes left on the clock (88-71).

Vasilije Micic was superb for Anadolu Efes, accumulating 26 points (1/2 2PT, 5/9 3PT, 9/10 FT), 4 rebounds, 7 assists, and 26 PIR.

"Fenerbahce is a well-known opponent for us and we made a detailed preparation. We thought we were going to break them at the end of the third. And we did. We knew that Guduric and Henry were players to stop but we also knew other athletes, like Sehmus, could give scoring support, so we kept an eye on him as well," spoke Yakup Sekizkok post-game.

Pierria Henry and Marko Gudururic were leading the route for Fenerbahce, scoring 24 and 21 points respectively.

Ergin Ataman was forced to miss the derby due to an upper respiratory infection. However, Shane Larkin was back on track, playing as a starter.

Fenerbahce won the first season duel between the clubs in the local competition (90-68), while Anadolu Efes reached revenge in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague (89-84).
