Possible return? Thabo Sefolosha joins French 2nd division club for practice / News - Basketnews.com
Former NBA player, who retired in March 2021, Thabo Sefolosha will be training with Antibes Sharks all week, via the club's Twitter account.
Sharks are currently playing in the LNB Pro B, the French second division.
Sefolosha knows the team's assistant coach Antoine Mantey, who was his personal trainer for many years.
"We spoke with him and he is motivated to get back on basketball track. Thabo is an experienced player and it will be interesting for our team to work alongside him in training.
It's a good opportunity for him to get back in shape and benefit from a professional organization. It's also a good opportunity for us to be able to learn from his experience," said Sharks' head coach Daniel Goethals.
"I wanted to know where I was physically, and that was possible thanks to Dan and Antoine. It makes me very happy to be here, and I thank the Antibes club for their welcome," commented Sefolosha regarding the time in France.
The first NBA player from Switzerland, Sefolosha played 14 seasons in the strongest basketball league with the Bulls, Thunder, Hawks, Jazz, and Rockets.
The 37-year-old made the 2010 All-Defensive second team. Moreover, he participated in the 2012 NBA Finals with the Thunder but lost the series against Miami Heat.
The 1.98-meter swingman announced his retirement from professional basketball on March 31, 2021. Before that, on September 23, 2019, Sefolosha signed his last deal (one-year) with the Houston Rockets.
Thabo Sefolosha holds NBA career averages of 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists over 869 duels.
