Fenerbahce displayed an impressive defensive effort at the start of the fourth, outscoring Milan 6-2 during the first four and a half minutes of the final period (60-53).
The visitors maintained the defensive pressure, as Marko Guduric's 3-pointer gave them an eight-point lead with two minutes remaining (65-57). That proved to be enough for Fenerbahce to achieve another impressive victory without Nando De Colo and Jan Vesely.
A scuffle broke out at center court once the final buzzer sounded, with Fenerbahce's Marko Guduric and coach Sasha Djordjevic at the center of attention.
"I think the guys did a great job energy-wise, focused on both sides of the floor," Djordjevic said post-game. "That's a great win for us. But it’s just one win. We just have to go for our road, think what is next. That's it. I'm very proud of my players, how they played. It takes one with courage to have an army."
Guduric led Fenerbahce with 17 points (4/5 2PT, 2/3 3PT, 3/3 FT), 4 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, 4 turnovers, 1 block, and 24 PIR.
It was a low-scoring first quarter, with Fenerbahce scoring just 2 points during the first five minutes (2-8). However, the visitors turned it up on offense, going on an impressive 16-2 run to gain a six-point advantage after one (18-12).
Fenerbahce continued their onslaught in the second, kicking it off with another spurt: they outscored Milan 12-2, gaining an impressive 30-14 advantage. The hosts wouldn't give up, though, with Malcolm Delaney ending the half with six quick points to cut Fenerbahce's lead to single digits (34-43).
Milan were locked in at the start of the second half, not allowing Fenerbahce to score for more than four minutes and outscoring them 9-0 to tie the game at 43. However, the visitors were not willing to let Milan gain the lead, finishing the quarter well to lead by three going into the final period (54-51).
"We definitely needed this win," Devin Booker said post-game. "Hats off to them for fighting until the end. We fought to the end as well, as you could see after the game as well. It was very intense out there for four quarters. They gave us a hard challenge and we accepted that challenge head-on and we did what we needed to do to get the win."
