There have been some comments about the difficulty of schedule playing both in the Euroleague and in the local leagues. Now, FC Bayern Munich's head coach Andrea Trinchieri has joined Sarunas Jasikevicius and Zeljko Obradovic to criticize the current system.

"It's too much, basically, it's too much," Trinchieri said in the press conference after the game against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv. "We're trying to copy the NBA. I understand - the NBA is the best basketball product, but you cannot just copy the things without having the same stuff."

"In the NBA, the regular season is 82 games, so you have 82 opportunities to fix your ranking after the loss. Out of 30 teams, 16 teams go to the playoffs," the Italian coach continued.

"Here we have 34 games, and out of 18 only 8 go to the playoffs, so it's very difficult to have quality, nice plays, quick basketball playing every 48 hours," Trinchieri compared the NBA to Europe. "The importance of a single game is not comparable to the NBA."

Andrea Trinchieri's comments after the game:

Bayern's coach continued to take shots at the current system. "In the NBA, you can lose games, because you have other 81, 40 games to accomplish your task," Trinchieri said. "Here, every game is a struggle. This is the result - injured players, low-scoring games."

Coming in after a loss in Barcelona, Bayern secured a much-needed win against Maccabi yesterday, solidifying their spot in the Top-8. "The two teams fought. In Barcelona, we fought until the very end," the coach described the game. "But the quality is something, and we need to find a solution."

Coach Trinchieri is adamant that the solution must be found. "I'm not the guy to find the solution," the coach said though. "I don't blame my players, I don't blame the teams for the low-scoring games."

Talking about the game against Maccabi, Trinchieri emphasized his team's defensive efforts: "Definitely a team win with a defense that allowed 16, 13, 12, and 11 points in the four quarters."

"We were really excellent as a team in defense. We respected the assignments, we played hard, and this is the reason why we were able to keep Maccabi at 52 points," the coach told the media after the match.

Are Bayern a playoff-caliber team? Coach Trinchieri would not say that as of now. "We're playing some playoff-level games, but we're going to be playoff-level when we make the playoffs, not before."

Bayern are currently sitting 9th in the EuroLeague standings with 12 wins and 12 losses in the account. The team travels to Istanbul to play against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul next week before the national break.
