Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet has committed to participate in the three-point contest during NBA All-Star Weekend, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

VanVleet heads to Cleveland averaging 39.3% from behind the arc this season with 3.9 three-pointers made per game, the second-most in the league behind only Steph Curry (4.8). He's also taking a career-high 9.9 threes per game, second only to Curry in the league (12.5).

His three-point percentage is the highest in the league of anyone averaging at least eight attempts per game this season.VanVleet is a first-time All-Star and has helped the Raptors to a 28-23 record, seventh in the Eastern Conference.

The 27-year-old is averaging career-highs of 21.6 points and 7.2 assists.

Earlier in the week, VanVleet had hinted that this might be a possibility. He said it was an honor to be heading to the All-Star Game, but hadn't committed either way to participating in the event.He will be joined in Cleveland by Precious Achiuwa and Scottie Barnes who are both participating in the Rising Stars game.
