The Greek Cup Final Four will be held in Heraclion, Crete, from 18 to 20 February, as the Hellenic Basketball Federation decided to restore the format after 18 years.

The names of the four teams that will fight for a place in the Greek Cup Final were placed in the urn on Monday noon.

Titleholders Panathinaikos OPAP Athens and 2021 finalists Promitheas Patras will lock horns in the first semifinal, while 2018 winners AEK Athens will play Olympiacos Piraeus in the second game.

A detail worth mentioning about today's draw is that no team representative picked the ball that corresponded to their own club. AEK's representative Alexis Alexiou drew Promitheas, Olympiacos GM Nikos Lepeniotis drew eternal rivals Panathinaikos, whose GM Giorgos Kalaitzis picked up Olympiacos.

The complete timetable will be set tomorrow after the Hellenic Federation consults with the Greek police and local authorities.

The president of the EEC, Vangelis Liolios, spoke to the representatives of the Press shortly after the draw of the Final Four of the Greek Cup. Mr. Liolios referred to both the Final Four, as well as the upcoming national men's games, as part of the World Cup qualifying phase."After 18 years we return to the Final Four format", Federation president Vangelis Liolios said after the draw and continued: "We think it is the right time to be able to safely make a Final Four, which should be a celebration. Next year, we want to take the next step with a Final 8."

Liolios added that the Federation will communicate to the teams any decisions regarding the tickets to the event, the process, and the details.

"We will see what the health protocol and the measures imposed by the government will allow us. We are in talks with the government officials, in order for the largest possible number of fans to be present."Regarding the Greek national team and the presence of Panathinaikos and Olympiacos players in it for the double games against Turkey on February 25 and 28, Liolios stated:

"We have already had discussions with the two teams and there was an absolute agreement because the national team is above everything.

Both Panathinaikos and Olympiacos will make their players available for those games. Panathinaikos were very clear and we thank them very much for that, as they will be overrun with players available in the first match, on the same day they play EuroLeague.

Olympiacos were clear that their players will be available in both games," he concluded.
