Now the LA Lakers are 4 games under .500 and sit ninth in the Western Conference standings (26-30).
Such results and the latter disappointing defeat were serious setbacks for the Lakers legend and five-time NBA champion Magic Johnson, who could not collect his words.
"After the Lakers loss to Portland tonight, I'm speechless. No words can describe how I'm feeling," wrote Magic Johnson on his Twitter account.
Former NBAer and ESPN's sports analyst Kendrick Perkins was not optimistic about the Lakers as well.
"I don't know why you're all acting surprised that the Lakers lost tonight! This Lakers team will be in the play-in tournament and get bounced in the 1st round. They got less than 24 hours for Rob Pelinka (Lakers GM) to make something happen… because right now they need Jesus," the 37-year-old stressed.
According to Lakers reporter Ryan Ward, LeBron James said he takes "full responsibility" for costly turnovers, which decided the game outcome, in the latest duel. Lakers superstar also added: "I'm tired as hell right now. I want to get some wine and get to bed."
In the next match, one of the top Western Conference teams, the Golden State Warriors, awaits the Lakers away.
