As Cory Higgins is sidelined with a severe injury, an extension with Dante Exum remains FC Barcelona priority, sources say BasketNews.

A 26-year-old Australian signed a three-month contract on December 7. His deal expires in the upcoming weeks.

Per BasketNews sources, Barcelona are trying to convince him to stay until the end of the season.

No other signings are expected in Barcelona before the EuroLeague transfer deadline (February 23), sources indicate BasketNews.

At first, Exum insisted that he planned to go back to the NBA. But as time passed, his feelings changed a little bit.

"I have two or three weeks more to decide either if I will stay here or leave. I can only say that the decision has not been made yet," Exum said in an interview with Sport last week. "I love the city, the food, going out shopping… If I have the opportunity to go to the NBA, I will take it, but it should be the appropriate one," he concluded.

Exum appeared in 11 EuroLeague games and averaged 6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in 16 minutes.

Exum had a great 4-game stretch, where he averaged 10.8 points (on 53% 2-point and 63% 3-point shooting), 4.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.

"Exum's first month was not easy at all. He was not in shape, he has never played in the EuroLeague… He is still excellent in practices. Let's see if he can help us even more now that he knows my philosophy better. He is savage in the practices," Sarunas Jasikevicius praised the Australian recently.

Higgins underwent surgery for chronic plantar fasciitis that he suffered from in his left foot. The approximate recovery time is three months, per the team's report.
