After being a part of a trade package, Houston Rockets waived Enes Freedom last night. He has now issued a statement regarding his future in basketball, expressing interest in playing in Greece.

The Turkish basketball player released a statement expressing his interest to play in Greece. In his written statement, Freedom notes: "Now that I have my American passport, I intend to visit Greece in the hope of meeting with the prime minister, regarding the repatriation of Turkish refugees."

Greek website OPEN's journalist Elvi Michailidou reports that the former Boston Celtics player is initiating proceedings and talking to people in the USA who know the prime minister so that this meeting can take place.

"Depending on how our conversation goes, I will talk to him about the possibility of competing professionally in Greece," Freedom said in a written statement. The player has expressed his desire to play for Panathinaikos Athens 2 years ago in another interview for Greece's OPEN SPORT.

Freedom was one of three players the Rockets acquired in its deadline-day deal that sent Daniel Theis to Boston. The other two players the Rockets acquired, Dennis Schroder and Bruno Fernando, remain under contract with the team.

Recently a report from an anonymous GM from the NBA has surfaced, claiming Freedom is not on the list of his fellow colleagues in the league.

"I don’t know if anyone else signs him," said the GM. "Maybe not. I think from a basketball standpoint, it's really questionable. I'm not sure if any of the other stuff will even come into play," the GM continued. "I don't think he won't get a job because of anything he's said or done. I think he just doesn't guard, and the game is changing. He plays a lot older than he really is."
