Pablo Laso made a short statement regarding the recent Mundo Deportivo report on Shane Larkin reaching an agreement with Real Madrid.

In an interview with Jose Manuel Puertas of Ideal, Laso said that such news sometimes could disrupt the team.

But not this time, a 54-year-old head coach assures.

"To be honest, my son informed me about it when I picked him up after his workout," Laso said to Jose Manuel Puertas. "Of course, Larkin is a huge player, and it would be absurd if I say different. And I always say that Real Madrid must try to have the best."

"But I also always say that such news can disrupt and hurt a group of players," he added. "However, I'm absolutely calm since I'm sure that my players are now only focused on Breogan."

Real face Rio Bregan in Copa del Rey quarterfinals on February 17.

On February 15, Jose Ignacio Huguet of Mundo Deportivo reported that Madrid had reached a verbal agreement with Larkin for the next season.

"I don't know where that rumor came from or why it has been posted, but it is completely false," Larkin denied on Instagram.

He also added: "I haven't agreed or had a conversation with any teams about next season. Focused on finishing this year strong with Efes. The Turkish Cup game is tomorrow."

Larkin's contract with Anadolu Efes Istanbul expires after this season, which will make him a free agent.
