The Minnesota Timberwolves star became the first big man in the last 10 years to win the competition. Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love was the last big to win it back in 2012.
"I had been begging the NBA for years to let me do this", Towns said. "I finally got that call this year, so I just wanted to make the most out of it".
"I'm super happy to win, It's great but I have such high standards for myself", the big man said. "There's no writer, no blogger, no one who could critique and be harsher on their game than me on my game. So I was so messed up about not getting the 30".
"I told Luke Kennard I wanted to go first, so I was glad when they called my name and that I was gonna go first,I wanted to keep pressure on everybody, get a high number that makes it feel almost unattainable. Just that feeling of you have to be perfect, and you miss one, it kind of knocks confidence out, so I wanted to set the tone real quick", Towns added.
