This season Lithuanian Basketball League presented a new idea of giving the opportunity to every basketball fan to participate in the 3-point contest with professional players, and Antanas Segzda grabbed such a chance without blinking.

After winning the qualifying competition, Segzda joined other 12 professional players in LKL 3-point contest:

Rihards Kuksiks, Nevezis Kedainiai Evaldas Saulys, CBet Jonava Martynas Gecevicius, Juventus Utena Eimantas Stankevicius, Siauliai Mindaugas Lukauskis, Dzukija Alytus Karolis Lukosiunas, Zalgiris Kaunas Arnas Beruckas Pieno zvaigzdes Pasvalys Lukas Uleckas, Rytas Vilnius Nemanja Bezbradica, Siauliai Tahj Eaddy, Labas GAS Prienai Nojus Mineikis, Neptunas Klaipeda Karolis Giedraitis, Lietkabelis Panevezys

In the first round, Segzda scored 21 points, but it wasn't enough to secure a ticket to the second round.

Segzda participated in overtime with Stankevicius and Gecevicius. He then scored 9 points which were enough to qualify for the second round.

Segzda scored 19 points in the semi-final stage and beat Gecevicius (16 points) and Saulys (12) to secure a place in the final.

In the final, Segzda was the first participant, and once again, he displayed a result that would make feel good any professional player – 18 points.

However, Rihards Kuksiks showed an even higher class performance, finishing with 22 points and securing the LKL 3-point contest champion's name.

"Unreal feeling," Segzda told BasketNews after the 3-point contest. "I caught fire like I was in practice. The support from the stands was superb. Thousands of people were worried for me, so I did not to be worried anymore."

He also said that he enjoyed such an experience, emphasizing self-confidence.

"I was enjoying it for sure. Maybe it's because of my age, maybe because of my experience at work. The support from the stands gave me a lot of energy.

All I want to say is that it doesn't matter what kind of shooting form you have, that someone tries to bring you down, or what the haters say. You must believe in yourself. If you do everything with love, you'll succeed," Segzda said.
