I wish we would've kept him. That's, obviously, one of my closest friends in the NBA," Nance Jr. told the media after arriving in Portland.
The two players switched teams as a result of the trade. In the aftermath of the situation, they decided to swap the houses they used to live in during the previous step in their respective NBA careers.
"We were passing each other in the air, you know, but fortunately, I own a house in Portland, he owns a house here, so we just kind of swapped," Nance Jr. explained the situation. "It made it nice and easy for us. It's not going to change our relationship or anything."
Trail Blazers acquired Nance Jr. from Cleveland as part of a three-team trade back in the summer. Later before the trade deadline, Nance Jr. was traded to the Pelicans, while his friend and former Pelican Josh Hart was traded to the Trail Blazers in a deal centered around CJ McCollum.
The forward has been sidelined since early January due to a meniscus injury in his right knee. After a successful operation on February 12th, Nance Jr. is expected to return to the court in several weeks.
"I feel great. I really. I feel great. I had to take my basketball shoes off during practice, I wanted to hop out there and do it myself, but I'm not ready for that yet," Nance told the media about his current health.
"Hopefully, a few more weeks. It was very very minor. I'll be cheering these guys on, doing the best I can to lead in the locker room.," Nance Jr. continued. "Hopefully, when I come back, it'll be a nice few game build-up before we get in a play-in or playoff game series."
