Unused ticket for Michael Jordan's debut sold for a record fee / News - Basketnews.com
Mike Cole, the owner of an unused ticket for Michael Jordan's debut in the NBA back in 1984, swears that until a few months ago he would have sold the ticket for $500. Luckily for him, he decided to wait and involve some auction houses.
The ticket, in the end, was sold for a record fee of $468.000, way more than $500 dollars that Cole would have accepted just a few months ago.
Back in 1984, Cole had bought two tickets for Michael Jordan's debut in the NBA with the Bulls but since the Chicago's team wasn't exactly super popular at that time, no one of his friends accepted to go with him to watch the game. So one ticket remained unused, which ended up being a real fortune for Mike Cole.
The market for vintage sports tickets has surged in the last few years, especially for the ones linked to iconic pro athletes like Jordan.
