The hosts welcomed back long-time absentees Paul Zipser, Nihad Djedovic and Darrun Hilliard, but were shocked to see Nick Weiler-Babb landing on his head after a dunk attempt in the second quarter.

The 26-year-old guard passed out, but -according to club sports director Daniele Baiesi- regained conscience and was able to move once transferred to hospital for medical scanning.

Bayern made a 58-29 rally in the second half, erasing Hamburg's 46-28 in the first 20 minutes.

Augustine Rubit was the winners' leading scorer with 16 points on 6/8 from the field, while Leo Radosevic put up 14 on perfect shooting (5/5 FG, 5/5 FT, 4 REB).

Out of all the debutants, Djedovic, sidelined for two months, was the best performer with 6 points in 14 minutes. Hilliard, Bayern's first scorer until he got injured three months ago, logged 3 in 13 minutes.

Zipser, who was diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage last year in June and underwent emergency surgery, only played 15 seconds.

For Hamburg Towers, who are still fighting for a playoff spot both in Germany and in the EuroCup (5-9), that was their first game in three weeks since their February 11 win over Wuerzburg (113-103).

Guard Caleb Homesly was once more particularly influential with 27 points, but for Pedro Calles's team, only his fellow countryman Jaylon Brown was able to follow him scoring-wise with 15 points.
