Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Joe Harris will require season-ending surgery on his left ankle, general manager Sean Marks announced in an interview with YES on Thursday.

Harris, 30, hasn't played since Nov. 14, when he sprained his left ankle. He had a procedure on it Nov. 29 but has not healed enough to return to action.

Harris was Brooklyn's fourth-leading scorer last season (14.1 points), behind the big three of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden, and he shot a league-leading 47.5 percent from 3-point range. In 14 starts this season, he was scoring 11.3 points per game, grabbing 4.0 rebounds and shooting 46.6 percent from deep.

Marks said the Nets determined Harris needed season-ending surgery within the last 24 hours.

"Unfortunately, Joe has done every single thing he possibly could up to this point to avoid having surgery and wanting to be back out with his teammates," Marks said. "He is just the quintessential teammate. He is what defines a Brooklyn Net."

It was Harris' sixth season with the Nets after spending his first two NBA campaigns with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He has averaged 11.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists and shot 43.9 percent from 3 over 414 career games (250 starts).

The news came the same day that Durant returned to action after missing 21 games with a sprained MCL.
