With the 8th March deadline incoming, EuroCup title contenders are looking for ways to strengthen their rosters. As first reported by Sky Sport Italy and confirmed to Basketnews, Valencia and Virtus Bologna have expressed interest in adding Georgian forward Tornike Shengelia before the deadline.

Virtus Bologna have already added Daniel Hackett to their roster, another of the foreign players that left CSKA Moscow after the start of the conflict in Ukraine. Differently from Hackett, though, Shengelia is under contract with CSKA Moscow until 2023, so parting ways with the Russian club might be more complicated for him.
The Italian side want to add a player that fits the 4-5 profile before the deadline, as also coach Scariolo confirmed after the victory in EuroCup against Frutti Extra Bursa.
Virtus Bologna have also shown interest for other players currently away from their Russian teams like Jordan Mickey, Johannes Voigtmann and Alex Poythress.
Despite rumors coming from Russia, Toko Shengelia is unlikely to rejoin Baskonia, as it was reported by SER Vitoria and confirmed by several sources to Basketnews.
Shengelia left Baskonia in 2020 to sign a three-year deal with CSKA Moscow. But after the start of the conflict in Ukraine, Shengelia expressed his will to leave the Russian side and returned to Spain waiting for a solution on his future.
According to multiple sources reached by Basketnews, Shengelia has no intention to re-join the Russian team.
