We have taken a difficult, but confident and right decision to dissolve all BC Prometey teams, and stop participating in the Basketball Champions League," the club's president Vladimir Dubinskyi announced today.
"Today, all our money, means, and forces are aimed at protecting Ukraine, supporting our Armed Forces, and territorial defense," the club's president continued. "We are definitely going to win! Everything will be Ukraine! And all the other things then."
"Starting today, I've made a decision for myself personally and ordered all our enterprises, which I and all of us must and will speak only Ukrainian. This is my civil position. Glory to Ukraine!" Dubinskyi finished his statement.
Prometey previously were in 2nd place of Group K in the BCL's Top-16 Round. Before the war broke out, Prometey had beaten Unicaja Malaga and Filou Oostende to solidify their chances of going through to the next round.
Once the club's decision was announced, Prometey's non-domestic players took to Twitter to express their feelings about the team being dissolved.
BC Prometey's women's basketball team, on the other hand, lost in the Round of 8 in the EuroCup Women competition to CBK Mersin Yenisehir Bld. Sadly, the first match of the head-to-head was played the day the war broke out, February 24th.
