Daniel Hackett's transfer to Virtus Segafredo Bologna didn't come without a price for the Italian international guard.

The former player of CSKA Moscow and the Italian champions recently signed a deal that runs through 2024 and is worth a total of €2.7 million.

However, according to Sportando's Emiliano Carchia, Hackett had to pay a sum to CSKA Moscow out of his own pocket to get his free agency.

The 34-year-old left Russia after the country invaded Ukraine., but had a contract with the team coached by Dimitris Itoudis until the end of the current season.

According to the same report, Hackett paid CSKA $100,000 to free himself and get the chance to sign with his next team.

Hackett averaged 8.5 points, 1.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 9 PIR in 22 EuroLeague games this season.

Furthermore, according to BasketNews sources, Tornike Shengelia is one step away from joining Virtus Bologna as well.

Shengelia should sign a contract until the end of the season with an option for one more year, in case Virtus will reach the EuroLeague.

The transfer deadline in the EuroCup closes on March 8th.
