Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic did not spare good words for famous European players throughout the All-Star Weekend in Cleveland.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Slovenian wunderkind sees Giannis Antetokounmpo as multiple MVP holder in the NBA.

"He was the MVP twice. I think he'll be maybe five times more. A great player and person," Luka said regarding the Milwaukee Bucks leader.

Doncic also mentioned his idol Vassilis Spanoulis, whom he used to watch playing in his early days.

"Playing in Europe, he was my idol. I always admired him. That's why I wanted the number 7, though I couldn't get it, because it was taken. That's why I took number 77.

I just want to thank him for everything that he's brought to basketball – not just to me. I think he showed a lot of players how to play basketball, how to act on the court, what's leadership, and everything else," Luka praised the European basketball icon.

Vassilis Spanoulis has heard those words across the Atlantic and was satisfied that he inspired such talent as Doncic to play the game of basketball, speaking to SPORT24.

"It's an honor hearing one of the greatest players in the world saying that he played basketball because of me. My kids are watching him, I am very happy that I inspired a phenomenal player like him," Spanoulis admitted.
