Thompson reminded about himself, not only scoring the most points since coming back from a long-term absence but also pouring in 8 shots from deep in 14 tries (57%).
According to two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, NBA and especially his team last night seem to forgot the capabilities of one of the best sharpshooters in the league.
"Obviously, we haven't seen him in a while with his injury. It's almost like we forgot who he is. He made one (triple) and we kinda weren't urgent enough to discourage him from shooting the second one, the third one, the fourth one...
At the end of the day, it hurts to lose a game, but I'm happy. I'm happy for Klay. I'm happy for somebody, who faces adversity, and is being able to come back and play at a high level. My mindset is I never take away from somebody else. You know, he had a good game and you have to give him credit. He made tough shots. I'm happy that he's back," spoke the Greek Freak post-game.
Andrew Bogut, who was Klay's teammate in Golden State, also expressed his thoughts on Thompson's comeback and too high expectations by the fans.
"People expected Klay Thompson to just roll in from 2 years off and be as he was. These people don't understand what he went through and just how hard even a year-long injury is to get back from. Be patient people," an NBA champion wrote on Twitter.
The 32-year-old Thompson is averaging 16.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists over 21 duels this campaign.
