Both players are under contract only until the end of this season. Rudy Fernandez is gonna be 37 in a few weeks, while Llull is already 34-years-old.

The idea of Real Madrid is to try to keep both players for at least another season but with reduced salaries and a more limited role on the court.

Real Madrid know how important Llull and Fernandez are as leaders inside the locker room and they wouldn't want to lose them.

According to Marca, Rudy Fernandez dreams of the possibility to play the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 with the Spanish NT, so keeping playing at the highest level would be very important for him.
