Olympiacos Piraeus faces LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in Lyon on Friday, and Sasa Vezenkov pointed out that the Red and Whites must learn from their mistakes in the match against Monaco.

The 27-year-old forward, initially referring to the defeat by Monaco, explained that it was a very bad game.

"Defensively, we were not there throughout the match except for the first ten minutes, and we got stuck in the offense. Especially in the second quarter, we made bad choices and gave them easy points," Vezenkov said.

"The general picture is that we did not play hard, we did not control the rhythm, and we left Monaco to feel very comfortable. Monaco has proved that, especially in this stadium especially, they play very well and have won against many good teams," he added.

Asked about the upcoming game against ASVEL, Vezenkov pointed out that it will be a great game to learn from the mistakes Olympiacos made in a defeat against Monaco.

"The fact that we have a direct match is positive for us. We have to learn from our mistakes, we have to find what we did wrong. The general part of the whole affair, as I said before, is that we did not play hard, we did not touch anyone.

For all these reasons, we have to be very focused, as the next game is very important, and Villeurbanne is a team that has about the same elements as Monaco in terms of basketball. We have to be sure that we will control the rhythm and play our game," Vezenkov noted.

Vezenkov also clarified whether Olympiacos are influenced by the scenarios regarding the final ranking.

"We are not interested in the possible scenarios at all. Anyone who says they do not want the home advantage is not talking realistically. However, we have always considered the next game to be the most important.

We must win and not worry about what the other teams are doing. The most important thing is us, and this year we have proved that when we are well-prepared and we pay attention to how we play, we show our best results. So, we have to be focused on our next game and concentrate on that," concluded Oly forward.
