Georgia Tech fires head coach Josh Pastner
Georgia Tech has fired head coach Josh Pastner after sevenseasons, the school announced on Friday.
Pastner had a 109-114 record during his tenure at Georgia Tech,including a 51-78 record in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets only madeone NCAA Tournament appearance under Pastner.
Georgia Tech struggled this season, going 15-18 (including a6-14 conference record). The year before, the Yellow Jackets were12-20.
"We have high expectations at Georgia Tech for all of our sportsprograms, and it is imperative that our storied men's basketballprogram achieves a greater level of success," first-year athleticdirector J Batt said.
"Our men's basketball program is important to our department andto our institution. We will not shy away from expecting toconsistently compete for ACC championships, NCAA tournamentappearances and sustained success."
Georgia Tech's season ended on Wednesday with a 89-81 loss toPitt in the second round of the ACC Tournament.
Pastner, 45, was named the ACC Coach of the Year in 2017. Priorto leading the Yellow Jackets, he coached at Memphis for sevenyears.
