"I feel well, and at this point in my career that's the most important thing for me," the team's captain said.
"If I'm good, I work well and I play well, so the minutes come and I do the things I have to do on the court. COVID has been added to many small physical problems this year, which is an annoying situation because it makes you lose the game rhythm."
Talking about the season, Datome commented that "it goes by stages. We showed that we deserve to be in the Final Four by staying in the top four all season long. Anadolu Efes have had a lot of ups and downs, but when they're up, they can drop 20 on any opponent."
When Gigi Datome came back to Europe from the NBA in 2015, he found a different EuroLeague format than the one he was used to in the '00s. In 2016, the competition expanded to include 30 games, which became 34 in 2019.
"In the last 7 years I've been playing for teams that fight for the EuroLeague title and that's a great satisfaction for me," former ELPA president said.
"We play a lot of games but I believe that EuroLeague did the right move in trying this format. I think that in the future, domestic leagues will need to reduce the number of their games because the European competitions are the ones who generate most of the people's interest", he concluded.
