Iffe Lundberg finally joined the Phoenix Suns and was already on the bench in a game against the Golden State Warriors.

The Danish guard didn't clock a single second and will have to wait for his debut, but nevertheless, he was happy about the opportunity he received.

"It's a dream come true, and I'm just happy to be here," Duane Rankin from the Arizona Republic quotes Lundberg.

"Super talented team," Lundberg said when he was asked about the Suns. "Very unselfish team. They play just with a high speed, such great energy, to be honest. To see the sense of awareness, the sense of happiness that this group shares, I really like that."

Lundberg also left a strong impression to the Suns head coach Monty Williams, who admitted that he didn't know much about a newcomer from Denmark.

"He's got a great body for a guard," Williams said. "He really shoots the ball a lot better than I anticipated. I didn't know much about him, and when he first got into the gym, I saw how easy he shot the ball. Saw the body. He's square. He's got a strong build, and that means he can take a pounding when he's going to the basket."

"I haven't had enough time to really dive into him on film, but James (Jones, Suns GM) spoke so highly of him, and we wouldn't have him here if we didn't believe he could play. So we're excited to have a Danish player on our team, but especially in the NBA," Williams added.

Before leaving CSKA Moscow and Russia, Lundberg averaged 9.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 8.0 PIR in 24 EuroLeague games.

However, if not the quick decision making, the departure from Russia could have become way more complicated.

"We were afraid that the air space might get closed, which it did once we finally arrived back home in Denmark," Lundberg revealed. "I'm happy I made that decision, but as I said, there was so much uncertainty going on, and when you're in an environment, and you don't really know how to tackle and how to handle things."

"It's easy to take the secure way and not only talking from a player standpoint but also like for my family and how they see and handle the environment," Lundberg concluded.
