Swedish Basketball Federation didn't take long to react after Jonas Jerebko officially joined CSKA Moscow.

In their statement, SBBF confirmed that as long as Jerebko wears CSKA jersey, there will be no condition for him to represent the national team.
"As a player in the national team, Jonas Jerebko is a representative of Swedish Basketball, and of course, also a person to whom we as an organization have a human relationship. For that reason, it has been central for us to have a direct dialogue with Jonas Jerebko before we announce our position.
On Wednesday, Fredrik Joulamo, Secretary General of the Swedish Basketball Association, spoke with Jonas Jerebko about his choice to play in Russia and pointed out how it directly conflicts with Swedish Basketball's values and our clear stance on the issue of Russia.
Unfortunately, after this dialogue, we have been forced to state that there are no conditions for Jonas Jerebko to represent the Swedish national basketball team," says the SBBF's press release.
Jerebko has been without a club for over a year after leaving Khimki Moscow Region on January 23, 2021. The latter squad still owes Jerebko a significant amount of money.
"It is clear that the timing of this decision is surprising, to say the least. I need to talk to Jonas and get to know his thoughts," Joulamo said on Wednesday, talking to Aftonbladet.
"Where we (Swedish Basketball Federation) stand on this question is quite clear. We have run a fundraiser, condemned Russia's invasion, and backed FIBA's decision. But we are not involved in our players' contracts. We'll have to talk about what this means for Jonas and us in the future,"he added.
Jerebko's choice to sign for CSKA had more consequences.
Prior to the move, the 35-year-old was sponsored by the beverage company Vitamin Well and served as an ambassador for the energy drink Nocco. But that agreement is now broken.
On Sunday, when the company received news of the upcoming move, they terminated the partnership with Jonas Jerebko.
"We have already chosen to break the cooperation due to his (Jonas Jerebko's) decision to play in Russia," said Jessica Linder, Brand Manager at Nocco, via Sportbladet.
