Floyd Mayweather on NBA players taking days off: 'That's not cool' / News - Basketnews.com
Floyd Mayweather is a global superstar. Known for his abilities both in the ring and off the ring, the boxer took his time to appear on The SportsIcon Lion Club's questions and answers podcast and provided his take on the current situation of the NBA.
"What I don't like about what's going on with athletes... With the NBA players, they will play a couple of games and take a couple of games off. That's not cool," Mayweather told during the podcast. "With that type of money, if you're not hurt, you need to be out there playing because people pay a lot of money for these NBA players to entertain."
"And I love the NBA, and I'll always support the NBA," the superstar concluded.
Mayweather also touched on NBA players not having their own brands and having to stick to the league's branding rules during commercials.
"If you look at certain commercials, when you see these athletes do commercials, with the NBA, you never see an NBA player that has his own company, like 'He Cares' it always says 'NBA Cares'," the superstar boxer explained.
"That's a part of their contract that they have to do that," Mayweather explained. "Whereas, 'why do I have to do that if I play basketball every day, I'm already doing my job'."
