Head coach Orhun Ene and Turkish NT go separate ways / News - Basketnews.com
The Turkish Basketball Federation officially announced the separation of head coach Orhun Ene and the Turkish national team.
"We would like to thank Orhun Ene, who has been working as the head coach of our men's national team since 2020, for his valuable contributions and wish him success in his future career," the federation wrote.
Turkey lost three of its four games in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, sitting second in Group B. Games against Belarus and Great Britain await them in the summer.
It was Ene's second stint with the Turkish NT. For the first time, he was named the bench boss of the Turkish national team in 2011, after Bogdan Tanjevic's departure from the position.
The 55-year-old specialist started his professional coaching path in 2004. Banvit (2009-13), Durussafaka (2013-14), and Tofas (2015-20) highlighted his career in the clubs' basketball.
Before his coaching career, Ene was a member of the Turkish national team as a player. With Turkey, he won a silver medal at the EuroBasket 2001.
