He was under contract with the Russian club until the end of the 2022-2023 season.

Brown had recently agreed with the Perth Wildcats, but the NBL has denied his application to play in the league this season.

The 30-year-old American couldn't get the Letter of Clearance issued on time by the March 26 deadline.

Although Perth Wildcats requested to reconsider Brown's case due to extraordinary circumstances that delayed the issue of his Letter of Clearance, the NBL didn't make an exception.

"Although we would have loved to have seen John Brown III in the NBL, the integrity of the competition must come first," NBL Commissioner, Jeremy Loeliger, said in the press release.

John Brown III became a free agent, though. He is coming off an outstanding EuroLeague rookie experience.

Brown averaged 10.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 2.8 steals in 25 EuroLeague appearances.

Brown set a single-game record in the EuroLeague with seven steals vs. the regular-season leaders FC Barcelona. Forward had seven games with at least five steals.

His highest-scoring game of the season was in Barcelona (21 PTS). He also hit the 20-point mark twice over Barcelona and the reigning champion Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

BasketNews wrote a story about John Brown and his path to becoming the EuroLeague sensation.
