"Gigi Datome underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee for the removal of a bone fragment, following a trauma reported during the first quarter of the Sassari game. The player will be re-evaluated in three weeks," the Italian club announced.

A timetable for the 34-year-old's return is still unclear but the hope, of course, is that he'd be able to return in less than a month so that he could make the Final Four, in case his team advances through the playoffs.

Assistant coach Gianmarco Pozzecco expressed all his concerns about the situation of the Italian forward: "We're sorry and concerned for what happened to Datome, he had a bad feeling about an unnatural twisting of his left knee".
