NBA recovers its historic logo for the Finals / News - Basketnews.com
Many NBA fans had been asking for the return of the original Finals logo for years.
NBA knows that its 75th anniversary season is a special one, so it has listened to fans' requests. The league has confirmed the return of the legendary Finals logo, along with the classic font that fans had been asking for.
This logo was used between 1985 and 1995, during the golden years of the rivalry between Lakers and Celtics that starred Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.
The graphic design was forgotten for nearly a decade, before finally making a comeback in 2004 with the Detroit Pistons' title win. The NBA returned to using it uninterruptedly until 2017, when the Golden State Warriors won the ring.
Now, the league has decided to bring back a modernized version of the logo as the "culmination of our 75th Anniversary Season as we celebrate the league’s past, present and future,” NBA Chief Marketing Officer Kate Jhaveri said. He also added that the logo pays homage to the history of the competition and looks forward to the future.
