Luka Doncic injury update: 'Feeling great', but availability for Game 3 unlikely / News - Basketnews.com
Luka Doncic's availablity for Thursday's Game 3 at Utah remains uncertain.
"Feeling great," theDallas Mavericksstar said, after an extensive post-shootaround individual session that included running, ballhandling and shooting.
On the other hand, ESPN's Andrew Wojnarowski reported that "there's still significant pessimism on Luka Doncic's availability for Game 3 tonight. He's eager to play, but it's trending unlikely as he recovers from that left calf strain."
Doncic missed the first two games of the first round series against the Jazz due to a left calf strain. He suffered the injury during the final regular season game.
Despite missing the Slovenian superstar, the Mavericks managed to tie the series by winning Game 2.
Mavericks coach Jason Kidd told reporters at shootaround on Thursday afternoon that Doncic is going through his usual game-day preparation "as if there was no injury," but a decision has not yet been made.
"We’ll see how he feels at game time," Kidd said. He then clarified that Doncic’s status could be determined before he does his pregame warmup and shooting routine.
The 23-year-old sustained the injury in the third quarter of the Mavericks' 130-120 win against the San Antonio Spurs in the April 10 regular-season finale.
A two-time All-NBA performer and three-time All-Star, Doncic averaged 28.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 8.7 assists in 65 starts this season, finishing third in the league in scoring and fifth in assists.
