Croatian talent Roko Prkacin not heading to 2022 NBA draft / News - Basketnews.com
Roko Prkacin, the No. 62 prospect in the ESPN 100, will not enter the 2022 NBA draft, his agent Matej Mamic told ESPN.
The 19-year-old KK Cibona player missed several months with injury. He is a potential 2023 first-round pick.
This season, Prkacin is registering 8.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 9.6 PIR over 16 Adriatic League duels.
The 2.06-meter Croatian power forward grew up in the youth system of Cibona. In 2018, Cibona loaned Prkacin to KK Rudes in the second-tier Croatian League.
After a successful stint there, he was called up for the Cibona senior team in 2019.
On January 12, Prkacin made his professional and Adriatic League debut for Cibona in an 89–68 loss to Cedevita, dropping 6 points and 6 rebounds. Over 5 ABA games in the 2018–19 campaign, Prkacin averaged 2.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game.
In 2020, Prkacin was promoted as the new team captain of KK Cibona, becoming the youngest captain in club's history at 17 years and 10 months.
Following the 2020–21 season, the power forward declared for the 2021 NBA draft but later withdrew his name.
On 27 November 2020, one day after his 18th birthday, Prkacin made his debut for the Croatian national team at the EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers. In a 79–62 win over Turkey, he scored 6 points and grabbed 1 board.
