After suffering a heart attack, Zoran Sretenovic died in Belgrade at the age of 57, as the sad news was confirmed by the Serbian Basketball Federation.
Sretenovic had a remarkable basketball career, playing for some of the biggest regional clubs including Crvena Zvezda, Jugoplastika (Split), and Partizan.
The Serbian athlete achieved huge success while competing for Jugoplastika. With the latter squad, he won 3 consecutive European Champion Cups from 1989 to 1991 and 4 domestic championships.
He also won two gold medals with the Yugoslavian national team at FIBA EuroBasket 1991 and FIBA EuroBasket 1995.
After finishing his playing career, Sretenovic decided to remain in basketball and start a coaching career, during which he worked in several Balkan clubs, involving Buducnost, Hemofarm, Igokea, Vojvodina, and others.
