"I'm tired now, but we got a win, so I'm happy," Luka said after the game.
"He doesn't miss a lot of those, so my heart stopped," Doncic remembered watching Bojan Bogdanovic's last-second three-pointer that could've sent the series to Game 7. "I felt like that shot was going for 15 seconds, I just hoped he misses."
What does it feel like to finally win a series? "It's happiness, man," Luka says. "We worked really hard to get here, I think we deserve to get past the first round."
"Everybody fought their asses off today," the Slovenian superstar continued. "We didn't play well today, but everybody was fighting, everybody was sticking together. Keeping everybody together was the key to winning this game."
Being the worldwide phenomenon that he is, Doncic often gets both praised and criticized as an NBA player. His response?
"There are always going to be some outside conversations," Luka says. "I don't really pay attention to them. People are always going to talk, you are always going to have people who like your style of playing and people who don't."
"People are going to say bad things, people are going to say good things," Doncic continued. "We have to celebrate today and just get ready for Phoenix."
The Mavericks are going to meet the number one-seeded Phoenix Suns in the Conference Semifinals. "I think we're going to have to play our best basketball," Doncic talked about the keys to winning the new series.
"They went to the Finals last year, they're the number one team this year, so it's going to be really tough," Luka continued. "The crowd gets them going. We're going to have to play our best basketball to beat them."
"We have to play the same defense," the superstar guard mentioned. "I think today we didn't really play great defense but we still kept them under a 100. Obviously, Phoenix is the number one team, but we have to translate our defense from the first round to the second round."
Game 1 of the Mavericks-Suns series is scheduled to take place Monday night in Phoenix.
