Jason Kidd throws shade at Rudy Gobert, Hassan Whiteside over their lack of shooting / News - Basketnews.com
The Utah Jazz couldn't hold off the Dallas Mavericks this postseason, and Jason Kidd broke down what his team's first playoff opponent was lacking.
Kidd spoke about the Mavs' upcoming matchup against the Phoenix Suns ahead of Monday's Game 1, referencing Utah's bigs Rudy Gobert and Hassan Whiteside as opposed to the players comprising the Suns frontline.
"We have to adapt," said Kidd, per Mavericks reporter Doyle Rader.
"Our gameplan against Utah is not going to work against the Suns. We've already changed that mindset because we're not playing the Jazz," the American coach continued.
Dallas ousted Utah 4-2 in the Western Conference First Round NBApPlayoffs and will have their hands full against the Phoenix Suns. It was their first playoff series win in 11 years.
"We understand their strength in the midrange, but they can hurt you with the three in transition and they can hurt you in the paint with JaVale McGee and Deandre Ayton," Kidd said.
"This isn’t Gobert and Whiteside," Kidd added. "These guys can put the ball in the basket. So, our bigs are going to be tested."
