Virtus Segafredo Bologna defeated Valencia Basket last night to capture a spot in the EuroCup final. It was a familiar matchup for the Italian team's head coach Sergio Scariolo.

Scariolo, although an Italian by birth, has coached the Spanish national team for many years. He knows a ton of Spanish players, their playstyles, and their personalities.

"The quality of the victory is always a function of your opponent's ability," the coach told after the game. "They came out with their heads held high."

Although satisfied with his team's win, he noted the unfair situation with the qualification for the EuroLeague tournament. "If common sense and logic reigned, Valencia would be in the EuroLeague next year," Scariolo noted.

What was the key to a victory in opponents' territory? "The idea was to keep Toko Shengelia on the court as long as Dubljevic was there because he was in great shape," Scariolo pointed out. "He did a great job. We played good defense, we shared the ball well."

"We have won but the work is not finished," the coach continued. "The most difficult part still remains."

The Final of the EuroCup between Virtus and Frutti Extra Bursaspor is scheduled to take place next Wednesday, the 11th of May, in Bologna at 20:30 CET.
