The ball magician Milos Teodosic was instrumental in fulfilling Virtus' EuroLeague dream.
The 35-year-old Serbian floor general finished the final with 21 points (4/4 2PT, 4/8 3PT, 1/2 FT), 1 rebound, 3 assists, 5 turnovers, and 15 PIR. The latter performance granted him the EuroCup final MVP honors.
He came up big when his team needed him the most. Teodosic buried back-to-back three-pointers to make it 58-43 with 3 minutes to go in the third quarter. That stretch paved the way for Virtus' victory, as Italians managed to secure their double-digit advantage.
"Last year when we lost the semifinal, that hurt us. And this season, in the beginning, we were struggling with COVID and a lot of injuries. I believe this is the first game in the season that we have everyone healthy," Teodosic said after the victory.
"So, we really improved during the season and in the crucial moments of the season, we started playing really as a team, defensively and offensively. That Danny [Hackett] and Toko [Shengelia] came to the team also helped us a lot. So, I am really proud of the last two-and-a-half or three years here. We were improving every year."
It's another accolade on Milos Teodosic's resume. He is a former EuroLeague champion (2016), a EuroLeague MVP (2010), and a two-time EuroCup regular season MVP (2020, 2021). He also has multiple EuroLeague and EuroCup First Team selections.
