Bayern Munich (3) dominated their first playoff game against Chemnitz 99 (6) and despite several absences, began the series in the right way. Bayern won with the final score of 77-53 (18-15, 18-16, 24-9, 17-13) after completely dominating the second half.

Chemnitz didn't have the resources to try a comeback in the final quarter and Bayern controlled the game without any additional problem. Coach Trinchieri's side ended the game with a big lead (77-53)

In the second half, though, the situation changed completely. Bayern totally dominated the third quarter, limiting Chemnitz to only 9 points in the period and extending their lead to twenty points at the end of the quarter (60-40). Deshaun Thomas took over most of the offensive responsibilities and finished the third quarter with 15 points.

In the first half, the game remained extremely close despite the very poor percentages from outside for Chemnitz. For Bayern Munich, the top scorer in the first 20 minutes was Leon Radosevic, who scored 8 points. Coach Trinchieri's side finished the first half up by 5 points (36-31).
