Felix Sancho, the president of Hereda San Pablo Burgos, appeared at a press conference to explain the gesture that took place on the court at the end of the last ACB League match at the Coliseum.

With fans crying and being devasted about their team's relegation, Sancho surprised everyone by kneeling down and requesting Burgos players to do the same as a sign of apology to the fans.

"At that moment it came out like this, in a moment of maximum tension. In no case, I did not intend to humiliate anyone and I insist that I am responsible," Sancho said, via Marca.

"The intention was to apologize to our fans, rather than to do anything wrong to anyone. If it's misunderstood, I'm sorry, but what I wanted was to give respect to the people, who keep supporting the club," he added.

The president extended his apologies to the ACB newspaper: "I think it has been misunderstood and taken out of context. I was looking for a nice gesture with which to apologize to our fans. It has been shown as a way to humiliate my players.

I kneeled down the first one and asked my players to accompany me. There were those, who did it, and those, who didn't, but I didn't force anyone. I respect the players and I have never spoken badly of them. I don't blame them for anything either".

Yesterday, Alex Renfroe cleared up the kneeling incident at Burgos as well, saying "This is our way to thank for the support".
