The NBA All-Rookie First and Second Teams were announced last night. Despite the nominations not being at the forefront of the league's action, one omission drew questions from the NBA community.

While German Franz Wagner became the first to ever be selected into the First Team from his country, another international was surprisingly not among the first five.

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey was elected to the All-Rookie Second Team. Following the award, the Australian player took to Twitter to express his emotions. Giddey just laughed.

Members from the NBA community joined in to express their disbelief about the Thunder guard not being on the first team. OKC beat writer Brandon Rahbar tweeted: “The only time Jalen Green was better than Josh Giddey this season was when Josh Giddey didn’t play.”

Former Aussie Rules player Jason Davenport was stunned. "This won’t age well leaving Josh Giddey off First Team," he stated. "Let alone the fact he just flat out deserved it!" Fellow Giddey teammate Isaiah Roby could not believe the decision either.

"At least the voters remembered Josh Giddey enough to throw him into the All-Rookie second team," The Age basketball reporter Roy Ward said. "Wagner and Green are very good players but I reckon historically this will be seen as a flawed decision."

Giddey became the Western Conference Rookie of the Month four times during this season, surrendering the award only to Jalen Green during the month of March. Giddey was diagnosed with a hip injury at the end of February and hasn't played since February 25th.

Giddey is the youngest player in NBA history to score a triple-double in a match. He did it on January 2nd against the Dallas Mavericks, recording 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 14 assists, while also adding 4 steals to his tally. Giddey collected a triple-double three more times this season.

The Thunder guard was 8th in scoring, 6th in minutes per game, 2nd in rebounds, and 2nd in assists among all league's rookies. He averaged 12.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.4 assists for the club in his first season as an NBA player.

The Thunder hold the no. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft this year. After finishing with the fourth-worst record in the league, the team moved up two spots in the draft lottery and will be able to draft one of the consensus top-three picks in Chet Holmgren, Jabari Smith, and Paolo Banchero.

The NBA Draft 2022 will take place on June 23rd in Barclays Center in New York.
