With the EuroLeague Final Four underway, the most prominent European basketball figures have arrived in Belgrade. The EuroLeague CEO Jordi Bertomeu is one of them.

According to BeIN Sports Turkey journalist Ismail Senol, the league's top executive invited 9 journalists to a breakfast yesterday morning where he held a quick chat.

Bertomeu shared the teams that are considered for the Wild Card for the upcoming 2022/23 EuroLeague season. The clubs are from Spain, the Adriatic League, and Turkey, the journalist states on his Twitter account.

The candidate from Turkey is the EuroCup runner-up Frutti Extra Bursaspor, the journalist believes. Bertomeu also noted that a budget of at least 7 million euros would be needed for the club to participate in the highest level of European basketball competition.

The league's top executive also revealed that the EuroCup format that debuted this year with knockout games during each round of the Playoffs is going to stay for the next season as well with the minimum budget requirement of 2.5 million euros.

One interesting possible development was shared as well. With the Santiago Bernabeu stadium being renovated in Madrid, Bertomeu believes the EuroLeague could host a Final Four event in the stadium once the construction is finished. The journalist notes that the EuroLeague CEO had already had an idea of playing the most important matches in the stadium, but his idea was rejected back in the day.

According to the information Senol shared on Twitter, Bertomeu explained to the journalists that the average budget of the EuroLeague teams is 24 million euros.

A salary cap is also being seriously considered. The EuroLeague's goal is to have it at 60-65% of the team's budget.
