"I think that we are in a system that works under the market rules. If one club can afford to pay 12 million and another only 6, that's the consequence of the market, there is nothing wrong with this," the Catalan executive said.
"The problem is when someone is spending more than they are capable of generating. This is the problem. What we are trying to solve is to balance the incomes and to match the expenses with the incomes, incomes that are generated by the market revenues. This is the purpose," he went on to say.

Asked about the possibility of the EuroLeague introducing a salary cap, one of the club's co-owners and presidents, Giorgos Angelopoulos, said that decisions will probably not take much time to become effective.
"We will soon have some developments in the EuroLeague and we will have to wait to see what happens," he said in the Stark Arena mixed zone.
"I hope the product improves and a salary cap is introduced, something we have been discussing for years. It is necessary to make the competition more competitive," he argued.
"It is a matter of will and it can be done so that any team could potentially win the Euroleague."
During his presser, Bertomeu pointed out that putting a cap to how much a club can spend in a fiscal year "is a very reasonable principle in business and we have to make an effort to apply this as well."
Right now, according to Bertomeu, the EuroLeague is working on a plan for teams to implement. In any case, it will take some time for it to be applied.
"This is nothing new because back in 2015 when we for the first time introduced the Financial Fair Play regulations, we had more or less the same transition time, more or less," he underlined.
