Gallinari, who will turn 33 in August, returned with his family to Italy, and today he was a guest at the 'Countdown Clock' conference on the occasion of Milan hosting the 2022 EuroBasket, where Italy will be facing Giannis Antetokounmpo's Greece and Croatia, among other teams.
'Gallo' spoke of the national team, declaring his availability for the upcoming EuroBasket.
"I am available and I hope I will join the team. We're all excited and looking forward to it."
The former AX Armani Exchange Milan player said he's following the team's results, but also what other Italian players are doing.
"Wearing the blue jersey (of the national team) is always emotionally incredible, like when I was 14 years old. Nothing has changed. It's hard to explain," he pointed out.
Gallinari was asked about his future, since fans of Armani Milan are impatiently waiting for his return. However, Gallinari curbs the enthusiasm.
"Not this summer, not yet," he replied.
"I plan to play a few more years in the States, but I started my career here and that's where I would like to finish it too. That's my head speaking; we'll see what my legs and my body will have to say.
The EuroLeague is an important competition, of the highest level, and you have to be there physically. It's a dream I would like to fulfill."
Referring to his future in the NBA, Gallinari made clear that it's up to the Hawks to decide.
"It all depends on them, not me. The contract situation gives the ball in their hands, and they still have some time to decide”
