A vocal supporter and partial owner of Liverpool, LeBron James remained quiet this evening, only retweeting a GQ Sports picture of him in the stands of the match in Parc des Princes. Later in the night, he tweeted his support for the club's players: "Proud of you guys!! Win, lose, or draw you guys gave it your all this season and we all appreciate it!!"
After spotting LeBron James in the stands, several Real Madrid fans started shouting "Michael Jordan better" to mock the Los Angeles Lakers superstar, who recently made the All-NBA Third Team.
Former James teammate Kevin Love was also there to watch the final. The current Cleveland Cavaliers forward later posted a photo of him, LeBron, and a couple of friends at the Parc des Princes.
Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid watched the final and actively shared his thoughts on Twitter. After Karim Benzema's goal was cancelled due to an offside, he voiced his opinion almost immediately: "VARpool paid the refs… that’s a goal." Several other players started to look for explanations after the goal was denied as well.
Obviously supporting the Spanish team, Embiid was happy after the match and tweeted just two words that said it all: "HALA MADRID".
Vinicius Junior scored the game-winning goal in the second half for Real Madrid. Atlanta Hawks leader Trae Young acknowledged the talent of the young footballer: "Vini Jr so cold!! Omg," Young tweeted last evening.
Utah Jazz superstar Rudy Gobert was at the stadium to watch the Real Madrid-Liverpool match. The French center predicted a 2-1 victory for Real ahead of the matchup, and was noticeably happy after the match, taking photos with the Royal club's players in the middle of the pitch.
Another French basketball star, Evan Fournier, asked his followers a question on Twitter following the match about whether Real's forward Karim Benzema is a Top-3 French football player ever. He later tweeted his opinion that only the legendary Zizou - Zinedine Zidane - is better, placing Benzema at a solid 2.
Fellow Frenchman Nicolas Batum also added his support for Benzema winning the coveted Ballon d'Or trophy.
